Job Description

Responsible for the day-to-day activities of assigned
personnel on the assembly, installation and repair of pipes, fittings, and
fixtures of sprinkler / fire protection systems used in schools, hospitals,
commercial and industrial buildings. Provides guidance and direction to crews
in meeting the budgets and schedule dates on each project. Ensures job quality
and customer satisfaction is maintained in every stage of the project.
Interacts with upper management and other trades, customers and vendors to
build lasting relationships. Creates the type of positive environment that
works to maintain a sufficient and qualified work force. Reports to the Trade
Manager as well as the Department Manager and operates under specific

Essential Duties:

  • Manage labor and materials to ensure the assigned tasks meet or beat budgets for each task

  • Tracks hours and manpower on all tasks, ensuring revisions are processed timely and material consumption does not exceed estimates

  • As an on-site representative on fire protection related issues, develops relationships of trust and confidence that builds lasting confidence in ACI to perform on each jobs

  • Ensures the needs of affected contractors, owners and other customers are met

  • Participates in the project management process by assisting superintendents with problems or questions regarding assigned projects in an accurate and timely manner

  • Builds inter-department trust and cooperation

  • Keeps the trade manager and/or construction manager aware of all issues affecting production, schedule, cost and relationships

  • Serves as a coach for his people by monitoring lower echelon mechanic and helper production and quality workmanship

  • Continually provides training in areas needing improvements to ensure quality, production and safety

  • Focuses on safety and safety practices first and foremost at all task inceptions

  • Coaches personnel to focus on job-site training

  • Attends, as needed, all job site and office meetings related to assigned projects

  • Fills out all forms, revisions, requests for tools/equipment/material that are required for each project

  • Interprets company policy for workers and enforces safety regulations

  • Ensures vendors or subcontractors are handling project items, punch lists and schedule so they do not have a negative impact on the project

  • Attends meetings to insure quality on issues and concerns

  • Strengthens skills to encourage improvement in other crew members

  • Emphasizes commitment to continually improve the crews’ procedures and processes by the use and development of TQM tools, measurements, analysis and subsequent improvements

  • Reads blueprints and interprets specifications

  • Plans work to make the most efficient use of assigned manpower and other resources

  • Inspects work in progress and completed work to ensure conformance to contract and specification

  • Performs two week look ahead, takeoffs and estimate analyses

  • Performs field fabrication of sprinkler and piping systems and sets up the specific task or job schedule

  • Makes adjustments to work sequences to meet construction schedules, using his knowledge of equipment and assigned personnel capacities

  • Corrects punch list items and makes distribution as required
